Angel Falls
Written by
Christine Kackstaetter
The time has come for my life to mean something. Strange as it sounds, I am living. I should have a life that would mean something to me by now, but no. It is faint, distant, uncertain, and could mean more if only I had the opportunity to live it. I see myself lying there, white shredded flowing robes rustling in the winds of time, and teary sea blue eyes staring at the blackness of the empty heavens. The celestial sphere of heaven is dark, and I see no glittering stars, nor the silver moon to light my way.
How will I be able to move on if I cannot see anything?
I hope that someone will understand me and what I mean to do, but nonetheless, no one can see me. I am invisible to the globe that holds all beings ever created. They wish they could see me, but my angelic spirit seems too pure to let them. Sometimes they pass me and all they can see are the chains that bind me to earth. They cannot see my wings, though torn and bent, they are white with beauty that would lift me from this planet and bring me back to where I belong. No, they see nothing. I must find a way to return and make my life a good one... but where would I live? Where would I turn? What would I change?
Changing is the turn and life is where I would live, but freedom’s wish is what binds me now. I could change, but the chains of the past and time will not let me. They are heavy, huge, links, binding each other and me with their cold metallic weariness. I struggled before, but to no avail. The chains are too strong. At times I find that is isn’t fair. The people cannot see me and would be blinded by my heavenly appearance, and I, with all my power, cannot free myself of these chains. I long for freedom more than for life, but I have no body to rid myself of. This is the real me and ending this life, would mean ending it all. The only thing I can do is wait for another angelic being to see me, one with equal or more power who can free me.
That is... if they don’t get snagged by the chains of darkness first.
